Reverse Osmosis and Mineral Removal
To maintain a 450 mineral level in the blend, a reverse osmosis plant would be constructed. Reverse osmosis is a process in which water is forced through membranes under pressure. The membranes screen out tiny particles that are dissolved in the water, including minerals.
The minerals that would be removed from our recharged Colorado River water and groundwater blend are primarily calcium and magnesium. Other minerals found in the water in smaller amounts would also be removed including sodium, potassium, and iron. Sulfate, nitrate and nitrite, and chloride are some of the other compounds that would be removed.
